D-Day: June 6, 1944
*****

An out-of-left-field addition to the Salesteamtools Book Club is D Day: June 6, 1944: The Climactic Battle of World War II by Stephen Ambrose.

Why is this on a selling blog’s must-read list? If you can’t feel a certain sense of duty and commitment and appreciation for previous generations after reading this book, that’s on you, not Ambrose. You’ve got some issues to sort out if that’s the case.

I read this immediately after having visited Normandy about four years ago, ashamed that at 35 years old I didn’t know the story better. It fuels my days, knowing what others were willing to do to protect my way and standard of life. The stories of leadership, sacrifice, courage, decisiveness, and brotherhood…well, tear-jerking is a daytime soap opera term for it, but it fits.

Again, this is, as they say, a must read. For so many reasons. Read it. You will not be disappointed, and it may change your outlook on a lot of things.

Previous Book Club entries:

sacrifice, honor, patriotism, courage, leadership
