I was walking through a New York City bookstore with my wife last weekend when I stopped and thought about how many people seem to have “The Answer.”

Yes, these retail boxes going by the names of Barnes & Noble, or Borders, or Powells, or Strand, and even that bookstore-no-one-ever-physically-visits, Amazon, are keepers of the secrets of life. Quietly, passively resting on shelves, you can find the all-you-need-to-know secrets to a happier marriage, more obedient children, stronger friendships, sales success, inspiring leadership, and more.

But you know what? A person can overwhelm and even distract themselves from living while constantly seeking The One Answer.

Well, I won’t kill my own message here, but I do believe there simply are certain traits we need to master that really spell the difference between success in life and mediocrity. And I came across a wonderful article in Psychology Today that highlights one of those traits: grit. It’s a must read, and it’s all there in one, free article!

More on the problem of constantly searching for the answer in future posts…
