Write for SalesTeamTools
SalesTeamTools is growing - and we’re looking for a select number of additional writers with stories to tell.
What You’d Write About
SalesTeamTools is focused on helping salespeople and small business owners sell more in the 21st century. Our prospects have changed dramatically. Products and services develop at the speed of light and become commoditized faster than ever. Yet many people use approaches that were introduced decades ago. And we’re looking to help them transition.
You’d write about tools and technology people can use or about new ideas, and techniques people can apply immediately.
SalesTeamTools readers love practical tips. That means you would typically focus less on “knowing” and more on “doing”. Ideally, people read a post and go back and try it the next day. Posts that start with “how to” or introduce “5 ways to..” generally fall within our practical approach.
Your Voice
Our style is casual, we’re not writing literature. Humor is good. An opinion even better. We like you to have your own voice, feel free to let your excitement or annoyance come through - make it personal and it’ll make our readers appreciate your contributions more.
Length of Posts
While you’re not committed to a fixed number of words in your posts, we believe that 600-800 words offer the best reading experience. If you have more to say, break it up in a series of posts. Again, you’re not writing a book - keep it simple and to the point. Having said this - the most important thing is not quantity but quality. Give people something to think about and act on. Our readers will love you for it.
Editing Your Posts
Please note that we do edit posts for SalesTeamTools. It’s not unusual for us to change a title, rework a a paragraph or two or correct grammar and spelling. Don’t be offended by this. We do this to give your post the best possible fit with our readers.
If required edits are substantial, we will send a post back to you with suggested changes. Again, we don’t do this to be a pain but because we feel that with some work, you’ll get better exposure and recognition by our audience.
The goal is obviously to make your post as successful as possible. That’s good for our readers, good for you and also good for SalesTeamTools.
Post Frequency
Ideally, we’re looking for people that have an interest in contributing semi-frequently. Once a week, once every 2 weeks would be great but we do make exceptions. Again, quality is more important than quantity or frequency.
Unless we agreed otherwise, we publish your posts under the assuming that you’re writing it exclusively for SalesTeamTools. You’re obviously more than welcome to touch on the same topic elsewhere, but our hope is that your posts on SalesTeamTools do not appear in the same form and format anywhere else.
Recognition and Byline
We want to highlight and recognize you as the author of a post and we offer that possibility in a byline.
Bylines should be a sentence or two of who you are and what you do. You can include up to two links in it. Some guests include a link to an RSS feed here - this can convert well. Byline will appear at the bottom of your post - but your name will also be clearly visible at the top of the post.
In regards to inserting links in the body of your post - I prefer to avoid these as our readers typically don’t like them. If you have a good reason (ie high relevance to your post) why we should, feel free to bring it up. If you do end up inserting a link, please realize that subtle is good. Blatant self-promotion tends to turn people off.
At this point, we don’t pay other than with gratitude and the ability to be part of a great team.
